Mr. Nepal's Computer Lab Mr. Nepal is the Headmaster of the Shram Rastrya Secondary School in kathmandu
Background:
A few years ago, as a prerequisite to a grant from Bright Futures Foundation to purchase 10 computers, headmaster Mr. Narayan Nepal of the Shram Rastrya Secondary School in Kathmandu built a room in his school for a computer lab for his students. When the room was finished, the 10 computers were purchased and installed, and we witnessed the happy students sitting down with them for the first time.

A Great Investment:
Now, when one looks into the computer lab, students are focusing upon a single purpose as they aspire to understand and utilize these intensely absorbing machines.
Morning and afternoon, there are approximately 3 groups of 25 students each, which allows some students solo time and others to pair up. About 300 of the 400 older students, grades 6-9, choose to take the computer classes. The classes have become the most popular of the school's electives as students understand that knowledge of computer skills is their door to the modern world.

Originally, Bright Futures Foundation agreed to pay the $100-per-month salary for the computer lab teacher. However, last year Mr. Nepal was able to raise that amount himself with help from the school board and the neighborhood community. Therefore, Mr. Nepal deposited the Bright Futures Foundation grant into the bank and now receives interest payments each month that covers the cost of computer lab supplies.

The combined investments made by Mr. Nepal and Bright Futures Foundation translate into opportunities for a brighter future for the students - a win/win for all.
